Auxivo AG

The company Auxivo AG was incorporated in 2019 as a Spin-Off from the Rehabilitation Engineering Lab at ETH Zurich. It develops wearable exoskeleton products mainly for industry applications. Auxivo AG was founded by Volker Bartenbach, Michael Stucky and Roger Gassert, who started working together in 2017 to turn research exoskeleton technologies into commercial products.

Initially Supported by the ETH Foundation through an ETH Pioneer Fellowship in 2017, and a BRIDGE – Proof of Concept Grant from Innosuisse/SNSF in 2019, Auxivo partnered up with leading industry partners such as Swissport International AG to develop exoskeleton products that meet customer and user demands. After winning the Venture Kick Start-Up Competition in 2019, Auxivo closed its Seed Investment round in 2020 and is now progressing full steam to introduce a variety of exoskeletons for different industrial applications.

The first Auxivo exoskeleton supports its users when conducting specific tasks such as lifting a load from below the hip level. Auxivo exoskeletons are lightweight devices without any motors, electronics, or power supply. They rely on smart arrangements of supporting structure and energy storing elements.

At Auxivo, it is not our aim to fully support the user while working, but rather to reduce the load on the user’s muscles by 10–50%, while allowing freedom in performing various tasks. In industries where people perform several hundred lifting movements per shift, even a 10% reduction of the load on your body can make a big difference in how you feel at the end of your workday, and reduce the risk for long-term injuries. This focus on smart and minimalistic solutions enables Auxivo to offer small, lightweight, affordable, and easy to use solutions.

Following the long tradition in exoskeleton research and development at the RELab and ETH Zurich, our Spin-Off is a logical next step to ensure our research directly benefits users and society.
