Mathieu Berthet

Mathieu Berthet started his Ph.D. at the Rehabilitation Engineering Laboratory (RELab) in cooperation with the Lake Lucerne Institute (LLUI) in November 2023. He is a member of the StimuLOOP project, where his research focuses on personalized gait rehabilitation for patients with stroke or Parkinson's disease. Through the use of real-time multimodal feedback, he aims to develop novel data-driven training protocols that will improve gait quality and mobility.

Originally from France, Mathieu received both his Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Mechanical Engineering from the Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL). There he specialized in biomechanics and robotics. During his Master's thesis, he investigated the role of the reticulospinal tract during bilateral finger movements at Balgrist's campus.

Before starting his Ph.D.Mathieu worked for a year as a project lead for laboratory automation/robotics in the pharmaceutical industry. This experience led him to design and implement tools and communication protocols between instruments under GmP regulations.
