Short biography

Sven was born in Zurich in 1981 and grew up in St. Gallen, Switzerland. He completed his mechanical engineering studies with a M.Sc. from the ETH Zurich in 2006. Parallel to the subsequent work as an industrial development engineer and project leader in Switzerland as well as in Northern Germany, he pursued a master of advanced studies in medical physics studying biomedical imaging and biocompatible materials and graduated with a MAS ETH MP in 2008.

In August 2011, Sven started his PhD studies at Hocoma AG in the framework of the EU-project MUNDUS (Multimodal Neuroprosthesis for Daily Upper limb Support) and in collaboration with the Rehabilitation Engineering Lab. During his PhD thesis, he will focus on the rehabilitation of hand motor functions.
His research interests include the interactions between mechatronic systems and the anatomical and physiological characteristics of the human body with the goal of improving human health and assisting disabled people in therapy and daily activities.
